Meet the team
The Bradford Care Alliance Chair is Dr Richard Haddad, who is also a practicing GP Partner at the Saltaire and Windhill Medical Partnership. Richard has years of experience of the politics and challenges in Bradford from his CCG Clinical Board and Out of Hospital days, and is acknowledged as a natural leader and relationship builder. His true belief in collaboration makes him the perfect Chair for BCA and an integral member of IMB, supporting vision whilst making things happen from the ground up in primary care and across the system.
Dr Ish Gilkar, of Little Horton Lane Medical Centre, has been a GP in Bradford for over 15 years. He has board member experience of both Bradford City CCG and the City Heath Federation. He said:
“I am very passionate about NHS services in Bradford, especially diabetes. I aim to bring fresh ideas and outlook, hard work, passion and innovation to the BCA Board role.”
Dr Himat Thandi joined the BCA team in April 2017 and has been leading on the Community Partnership work as well as Planned Care projects including the recently launched Minor Eye Condition Service (MECS). He has been a GP in Bradford since completing the Bradford GP training scheme in 2001. In July 2019 Himat joined Leylands Medical Centre as a GP partner.
Following a career in the private sector, working for companies such as Orange, Nick Nurden joined the Ridge Medical Practice and has been their Business Manager for the last 13 years. His role draws on his experience gained in various roles in HR, premises, finance, commercial management and strategic planning with overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of a large GP practice. Nick also has a role with the West Yorkshire Primary Care Workforce and Training Hub which is working to identify workforce needs for the future and facilitate the development of that future workforce.
Ruby is a solicitor with over 27 years’ experience in the legal field. She brings over 25 years’ experience as a non-executive director. She is a Trustee at Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust, and Dixon Multi Academies Charitable Trust Ltd.
She also has over 30 years experience supporting the voluntary / third sector and holds various non executive director positions in this field.
She is Chair of the Wolfson Centre for Applied Research and Board Member for the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) Yorkshire and Humber board. She has supported the University since 2007 and is currently a member of the Service User and Carers Advisory Board, advising on strategy and policy for the involvement of service users and carers in the Faculty of Health. She is a Reviewer for the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) and Assessor for NHS National Innovation Accelerator ( NIA). Ruby sits as a lay Associate Hospital Manager for the Mental Health Department, for Bradford District Care NHS Foundation Trust (BDCFT).
Ruby has recently been appointed on the NHS England Patient and Public Voice Assurance Group (PPV AG) and NIHR Recovery, Resilience and Growth Group (RRG). She was previously a member of NIHR Urgent Public Health Review Panel.
Ruby is an Associate Lecturer and was awarded an OBE in housing and young people. She was also awarded a honorary doctorate from the University of Bradford.
Elections to the Board shall be conducted every three years by a vote of the shareholders at general meeting.
Directors may hold office for a maximum of six consecutive years.
