Extended Access has continued to run in remote form throughout the pandemic. Whilst we had to stop nurse and HCA services, physio ran until all pre-booked appointments had been fulfilled and we retained GPs for telephone appointments for both practices and LCD to use as needed. As practices started to use less and less, we offered more to LCD as they were understandably overwhelmed in their out of hours service. We continue to support them and the System in this way, with increased provision at the weekends when they need it most. This is monitored on a daily basis to ensure the correct level of provision. We are now re-introducing Fair Share for practices, but with the caveat that any practice struggling with staff absence can contact us and have this cap temporarily removed to help them manage their patients. This month we are also going to trial Physio 1st remotely again to see what demand there is from practices. And with all of our Mental Health appointments full, we are looking to increase provision there and are also exploring new services, such as Bereavement Counselling which is sadly very much in demand at this time. Long Term Conditions reviews over the phone are also being looked into. Please get in touch via adminbca@bradford.nhs.uk if you have any ideas for what else we can offer remotely that will benefit patients and practices.
